Colter Stevens’s wakes up in a long-distance train. But he finds he is in the body of somebody else. The train explodes and he is transported to a pod. Stevens is there told to return and discover the bomber. He experiences the whole ordeal again but fails on his missions. The whole procedure is repeated. Upon his return, he enquires what is happening. Goodwin and Rutledge, a scientist, tell him he is participating in a project which can put somebody in the consciousness of another person during the last eight minutes of his/her life. Then Stevens asks why he can’t just stop the bomber. He is told he is not sent back in time instead he is placed in the memories so he could discover who the bomber was and if there were any other targets. Stevens also finds himself falling in love with the woman with whom he is traveling while he still is in the other person’s consciousness.
